A DECADE IN THE MAKING
Celestial Circus brings together the complete percussion works of acclaimed American composer Richard Danielpour. Spanning nearly a decade of collaboration, the album features percussion soloist Lisa Pegher with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project under conductor Gil Rose.
At the center of the recording are The Wounded Healer, Danielpour’s percussion concerto written for Lisa Pegher, and Lacrimae Angeli (Tears of an Angel), for vibraphone and string orchestra. The album also includes the title work, The Celestial Circus, an expansive ensemble work for two pianos and three percussionists originally premiered at Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
Released on BMOP/sound, the recording captures a body of work shaped through years of collaboration, performance and artistic exploration.
